How To Draw Deer Step By Step

Deer Step 1

Step 1 – Draw the Face Base

Begin by sketching a small, centered deer face. Draw a narrow oval shape for the snout, then add the nose at the bottom using a rounded shape with slight curves for the nostrils. Above the snout, place two almond-shaped eyes and add small pupils inside them to give a calm, natural look. Lightly outline the sides of the face so everything stays symmetrical and balanced.

Deer Step 2

Step 2 – Add the Ears and Refine the Head

Extend the head by drawing two large ears on each side. Each ear should be slightly pointed at the top and wider at the base. Inside the ears, add curved inner lines to show depth and structure. Refine the top of the head by adding subtle curves and small details around the eyes and forehead.

Deer Step 3

Step 3 – Draw the Antlers

Now sketch the antlers starting from the top of the head. Draw two main branches rising upward, then split them into multiple smaller branches. Keep the lines smooth and slightly curved, making sure both sides are fairly symmetrical. The antlers should look natural, with uneven branching.

Deer Step 4

Step 4 – Outline the Body and Legs

From the head, draw a long neck that flows into the body. Sketch the back with a gentle curve and then draw the chest and belly lines. Add four legs—two in the front and two in the back—keeping them long and slender. Make sure the legs are positioned naturally so the deer appears to be standing steadily. Add small hooves at the bottom of each leg.

Step 5 – Add Details and Finalize

Enhance the drawing by adding muscle lines and subtle curves along the body to show structure. Draw small details on the legs and around the joints to make them look more natural. Refine the hooves and add light texture lines on the neck and body for depth. Finally, go over all lines with a clean, darker stroke and erase any extra sketch marks to complete your deer drawing.
